Gather around the cosy fire in the Longhall for a day of enchanting folk stories from two of the South West’s most vibrant storytellers, Lizzie Bryant and Michael Loader.
Performances:
11am – Hare-raising Antics!
Hop into a world of hare-brained and humorous tales! From the ground beneath our feet to the moon above, discover the folklore of the Hare from every corner of the globe.
12pm – Far Away in the East
Travel back to the beginning of time with China’s myth of creation. Then, meet a new Emperor whose rule brings challenges and mystical beasts. What happens when the land dries up and the people suffer? Find out in this thrilling tale!
1pm – Blodeuwedd, Woman of Flowers (Suitable for ages 14+)
As spring blooms, hear the magical story of Blodeuwedd, created from flowers to break a curse and become a prince’s wife. A tale of love and magic from Welsh mythology.
2pm – First Nations, First Meetings
Venture into the forests and plains to meet brave and playful characters like Rainbow Crow, Rabbit, and the fearsome Granny Squannit. Discover the rich folklore of the First Nations of North America.
3pm – Olwen, the Giant’s Daughter
It is said that white flowers spring from the rosie-cheeked Olwen’s footsteps. Follow Olwen’s journey through impossible tasks. A questing tale from Welsh legend involving King Arthur’s knights, the love of young Culhwch, and the wisdom of animals.
4pm – Hare-raising Antics! (Encore)
Missed the morning session? No worries! Join us again for more tales of the Hare, leaping from continent to continent with stories that are both hare-brained and humorous.
Booking required, tickets are £6 which admits you to one storytelling performance.
