About this Event
There are two workshops taking place over two Sundays and focus on two different textile disciplines which the artists Andia Coral Newton and Ellen Clarke-Quy specialise in.
The first part, on Sunday 24 September, will start at the Royal George and take the form of a walk around the local area, collecting and learning about dye plants, and the history of natural dye. This will be led by Andia. At the end of the walk, the group will add their dye plants to the dye pot, and prepared fabric will be left to take on the dye over the week.
The second part will invite participants to learn about embroidery. Ellen will lead this workshop. Using the plant dyed cloth which was created in the previous workshop, attendees will stitch their own works of embroidery. This will take place among the exhibition, at The Royal George.
Attendees are welcome to join either or both of these free events. All materials provided. Please get in touch if you have any specific access requirement or any questions.
