Presenting new contemporary dance works by young choreographers!
About this Event

Join us for the fifth annual Equinox Dance Festival Student Choreography Showcase! Celebrating new contemporary dance works by young choreographers, this show is the culmination of the DTG Performance Company's Student Choreography program. It provides a space for dancers ages 15-18 to choreograph dances, often for the first time, in an educational setting. The choreographers work with a mentor, learn to lead rehearsals, work with their peers, and make decisions for the stage that brings their work to life!

Meet the Choreographers:

Mabel Bailey is a homeschooled junior and dedicated dancer with seven years of training. She loves using her God given passion for dance to express herself both on and off stage. She’s been part of DTG and its performance company for the past two years, performing in shows like Flora: Awaken the Spring (2024) and Kaleidoscope (2025). She’s had the chance to dance both locally and at Disney Springs, and has worked with amazing guest artists including Kristin Wagner, Jedidiah Taylor, and Angela Gibson. This will be her second year as a student choreographer, as she made her debut last year at DTG’s Equinox Dance Festival. While Mabel loves all styles of dance, Contemporary and Hip-Hop are her favorites.

Since discovering dance at age 13, Grace Jackson has not stopped loving the art of movement and storytelling. Grace has had the opportunity to learn from renowned dance professionals including Niki Lee and Tony Guglietti and has performed in productions including Kaleidoscope (2025) and Flora (2024). Her goal in movement is to reflect God's creativity and always leave the audience with an impactful story. Favoring contemporary and improvisational styles, she has also grown to love West African techniques. She wants dance to always be part of her life. When she is not dancing, Grace can be found in the sunshine, leading the Greenville SFL club, or eating too much chocolate.

McClellen Medcalf is a second-year student choreographer for the Equinox Dance Festival and on her third season as a DTG Performance Company member. She is homeschooled and has been dancing for nine years. In July, she was accepted into and attended the South Carolina Summer Dance Conservatory hosted at the University of South Carolina. McClellen has performed in several shows with the DTG Perfomance Company, such as Kaleidoscope (2025) and Flora: Awaken the Spring (2024). She has had the opportunity to perform at Disney Springs, as well as work with incredible guest artists such as Rebecca Lee, Decent Dance, and Jedidiah Taylor. McClellen aspires to dance in college in order to continue pursuing her passion for dance. She hopes to showcase her love for musicality and explore the idea of heartfelt connections through her choreographic work. While she trains in all styles of dance, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop hold a special place in her heart.

Emilia Mertel, born in Greenville, SC is a junior at Fountain Inn High School. She has been dancing with DTG since she was 8, and joined the performance company at 12. Her passion for dance led her to the Governor's School's 5-week intensive, where she was immersed in styles like Russian ballet and African dance. Emilia competed twice in the Grand Jeté competition, most recently placing third in the modern division. Not only has Emilia participated in productions such as "Mind's Eye," "Continuum," and "Flora" with DTG's Performance Company, but she has also contributed to "Kaleidoscope" with an original choreographic work, titled "Adulation."

Ana has been in many shows with DTG including Flora, Continuium, Minds Eye, Kaleidoscope, Equinox, Black Box, and March Mixer. She has also been in musical productions such as Hadestown and Cyrano De Burgershack. In her spare time, Ana enjoys playing basketball, volleyball, and archery. She is very excited to have her piece shown at Equinox this year.

With DTG's Performance Company, Kate has performed in shows including Mind's Eye, Continuum, Flora, and Kaleidoscope in addition to performing in Equinox, Artisphere, and at Disney Springs. Kate is also a member of the Mauldin High School Mavettes Dance Team through which she performs at school events and danced in the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Through these programs, Kate has worked with choreographers from across the country.

Charleigh Ross has loved dancing throughout her entire life. As her passion for dance has continued to grow she has learned from guest choreographers Tony Guglietti, Kristin Wagner, Kevin Boseman, and many more. She’s also enjoyed many performances she’s been involved in. Her favorites being: Minds eye, Artisphere, and Disney. When not at DTG she can be found with the Fountain Inn dance team. Some other things she loves to do are: make candles, eat anything gluten free, and hang out with her five younger siblings.

Lily Timko is a sophomore at St Joseph’s Catholic school and a committed dancer since she was 4 years old. She wouldn’t want to go a day without being able to dance with all of her friends. This will be her 4th year in the DTG dance company, and has performed at various places including the Gunter Theater, Artisphere, and her favorite, Disney Springs. Through the DTG company, she has had the privilege to work with some artists including Kristin and Tony Wagner and Jedidiah Taylor. This will be Lily’s first year being a student choreographer.
