The fast track option has been  designed to support assessors in understanding the different types of EPA and the role of the EPA assessor.  It will enable you to apply new EPA methodologies while making the distinction between end-point and ongoing assessment, and covers learning outcomes and assessment criteria that focus on EPA grading and quality assurance processes.


This course will also help you if you work for an organisation that delivers the new apprenticeship standards as it will enhance your understanding of the EPA process.


This qualification will enable you to apply to be an End Point Assessor EPA with an EPA Assessment Centre.  Many End Point Assessors are freelance and are paid attractive daily rates.



What does the training include?


You will learn the skills required of an EPA  and the practice and process of end point assessment .  It will provide specific knowledge and skills for those who already have sector/occupational competence, but would like to gain a more specialised understanding of EPA processes and practices.  It will support them to understand and use EPA principles and practices to assess an apprentice against an apprenticeship standard.


The Award   has 1 unit which must be fully completed to gain the qualificationThe Principles and Practices of End-Point Assessment


The qualification is assessed by the completion of a portfolio of evidence that must cover all assessment criteria. You will demonstrate assessment skills by making, recording and justifying assessment decisions of work and projects against apprenticeship standards and assessment plans. A requirement of the qualification is that you must complete assessments covering 3 EPA methods. These will take place in a simulated environment during the taught sessions.


You will also complete a series of short assignment to demonstrate your understanding and knowledge.



About the trainers - Anne Horn and Sam Sutton


Sam Sutton and Anne Horn are both End Point Assessors for a large EPA Centre and have been involved in the pilot implementation of EPA assessments for the new Apprenticeship standards.


Sam and Anne have many years of experience successfully delivering apprenticeships and delivering high quality training. They also deliver Assessor, Internal Quality Assurance qualifications and Initial Teacher Training. They write resources for Awarding Organisations and are also lecturers at a University.
