About this Event

Series Description:

Whether you are a student startup with a brand new idea, a small business owner with a side project, or a seasoned business mogul, the Entrepreneur Workshops focus on a variety of topics pertinent to your journey. Sponsored by Perkins and Coie and hosted by the Office of Innovation and Commercialization’s The Basement, these workshops are open to everyone. We invite you to register for as many sessions as you are interested in! Light refreshments will be provided. This workshop is co-hosted by UC San Diego's Women's Center.

Using the power of improv, you'll sharpen your storytelling and presentation skills, learning to captivate any audience authentically and articulately. Discover why authenticity and empathy are your essential tools in your entrepreneurial and leadership journeys. Gain the skills to confidently share your story to the world!


About the Speaker:

Lisel Gorell - Getz | Director of Program Development, UC San Diego |  

Lisel Gorell-Getz is an arts educator and administrator who fuses people and purpose through arts integration and community building. Lisel is dedicated to connecting communities, increasing access, and building social capital in the intersectional space of innovation, entrepreneurship, and the arts. Whether it's creating a mentorship program for young women, developing school residencies, facilitating panels and discussions, leading community classes, or supporting fellow educators through training and professional development opportunities, she believes the arts make a difference.  She holds a BFA in Acting from Ithaca College and an MA in Nonprofit Leadership and Management  from USD.

The Women's Center is located on the UCSD main campus, in Student Center West, between Mandeville Center and the Original Student Center, on the 2nd floor, above Blue Pepper Thai Restaurant. Map to Women's Center

Driving and Parking
  • Take Interstate 5 north or south to the La Jolla Village Drive Exit.
  • Take the La Jolla Village Drive Exit and head west on La Jolla Village Drive (left if you are northbound, right if you are southbound).
  • Go through the stoplight at Villa La Jolla Drive (north). Bear right onto Gilman Drive (east). As you enter campus, you will pass the South Parking Structure on your right.
  • Please make note, there is no parking available at the Women's Center. It is a short distance from two parking lots that offer hourly and full-day paid parking options.



Closest Parking
  • Continue on Gilman Drive past the South Parking Structure, and through the stop sign. Go underneath the wooden pedestrian bridge. At the next stop sign, turn left. Bear immediately right into Parking Area P113. Handicap and paid parking is available. From P113, you will be entering the original Student Center. You will see Taco Villa Restaurant, and will pass the General Store and Food Co-op where you will find a large elevator directly in front of you. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor, and turn left. The Women's Center is directly in front of you on the west side of the building.



Public Transportation

The Blue Line Trolley is the best option for getting to campus. For information on bus routes from your area, please visit the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System.
