This event is ideal for entrepreneurs at any stage of their business journey who are haunted by their own books and would like some simple strategies to make tax and bookkeeping more simple! We’ve got your back.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

1. Understanding Tax Write-Offs: Delve into the realm of tax deductions specifically tailored for entrepreneurs. Learn how to identify legitimate expenses that can significantly reduce your taxable income, from office supplies to business travel expenses. Discover the art of maximizing deductions while staying compliant with tax regulations. (and of course... this workshop is a write off too!)

2. Simplified Bookkeeping on a Spreadsheet: You don't need fancy accounting software to keep your finances in check. We'll walk you through the basics of bookkeeping using a simple spreadsheet, demystifying the process and making it accessible to even the least finance-savvy entrepreneurs. Learn how to organize income, track expenses, and maintain financial records efficiently, all within the familiar confines of a spreadsheet.

3. Incorporation vs. Sole Proprietorship: One of the most critical decisions for any entrepreneur is choosing the right business structure. Deliberate the pros and cons of incorporation versus sole proprietorship with industry experts. Understand the legal and tax implications of each option, and gain clarity on which structure aligns best with your business goals, risk tolerance, and growth trajectory.

WHO IS TEACHING?

Dylan Hammond graduated with an honours bachelor of commerce degree back in 2018 and has been preparing taxes for individuals across Canada ever since, specializing in personal as well as small business tax returns. He completed his Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation last year and has been doing accounting and payroll work for a charity in London for six and a half years. He has developed and implemented countless budgets, expense templates, and financial reports in Microsoft Excel that are uniquely tailored to clients in various industries. He also has a sound understanding of eight major bookkeeping systems including QuickBooks, Sage Simply Accounting, and Microsoft Dynamics GP, which has allowed him to further understand and apply the fundamentals of accounting.

Kevin Dunklee has a Bachelor degree in accounting and philosophy from Huron University College at Western and has been working in the field of real estate accounting and administration since 2017. He is currently self-employed consulting for several brokerages in the London area, having been licensed as a Real Estate Broker in 2021. Kevin is a professor at the Fanshawe College Lawrence Kinlin School of Business who also has extensive experience counselling and tutoring students in business and in real estate. He has also helped numerous individuals to organize themselves in sole proprietorships and in Personal Real Estate Corporations.

Dylan and Kevin met at the beginning of their accounting education and have maintained a reciprocal business relationship and friendship since then. They are both educators who share a passion for helping others to get beyond the fear of numbers and money -- to make these seemingly monstrous, gruelling tasks as simple as possible so we can all get on with the REAL business of living! You can expect a lively and fun discussion about what really does not need to be an unpleasant topic, and you may find some ways to streamline and simplify your business life!
