About this Event
**With NC State Park event closures and the need for volunteer efforts out west in the wake of Hurricane Helene, this event has been rescheduled to December 15th from 10 AM to 12 PM.
Are you interested in engaging with fellow community members about environmental concepts like the importance of our local freshwater ecosystems? We have just the opportunity for you! Join Eno River Association staff to learn how you can become an Eno Education Volunteer and help spread the word about how awesome the Eno River is. We will go over the basics of tabling for the Eno River Association at local events, leading and/or assisting with hikes, and helping with educational activities like catching macroinvertebrates in the river. The goal is to help you feel excited and prepared to volunteer for our various education events that take place throughout the year. Fun will be had and pizza will be provided!!
Recommended ages: 16+
Directions: This training session will take place at the Few's Ford access of Eno River State Park -- the address is 6101 Cole Mill Road, Durham 27705. We will meet at the large picnic shelter. Once you enter the park, drive past the Piper-Cox house/parking lot, past the new visitor center, and park in the large circular parking lot. There will be someone there to greet you and guide you to the picnic shelter.
Accessibility Info: For the introduction and tabling portion of the session, we will be located in the paved picnic shelter, which has a paved path from the parking lot. For the hike and macroinvertebrate portion, we will hike down to the river toward the swinging bridge. Restrooms are available on site.
