About this Event
Sacramento native Bill Cartwright has been a basketball phenom since playing as a center for Elk Grove High School and helping them score a Northern California Tournament of Champions title during his senior year.
His 16-year career in the NBA started when he was drafted by the New York Knicks in 1979. He moved to the Chicago Bulls, playing alongside Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and others on a team that won five championships in the 1990s. After retiring as a player, Cartwright became the first Black head coach in Bulls history.
Now Cartwright has written an autobiography, “Living Life at the Center,” about growing up in Sacramento, his time in the NBA, and his second career as a successful entrepreneur. He also shares the lessons he learned along the way about teamwork, hard work, going for the win, and turning dreams into realities.
Join us for a conversation with Cartwright as we talk with him about his life, his NBA career as a player and coach, and his thoughts on pro basketball today.
