This workshop, led by Nic Mollison, a renowned expert with over 25 years of experience in lighting and projection design, offers a unique opportunity for local artists and art workers to learn from a seasoned professional. Nic has collaborated with leading theatre, opera, dance, and youth arts companies, as well as creating designs for concerts, festivals, corporate events, nightclubs, and visual art installations, both nationally and internationally.

Participants will benefit from Nic's expertise in creating cohesive visual designs by mastering the balance between lighting and projection. His approach allows for ultimate control and consideration of both mediums, ensuring they complement each other on stage without one dominating over the other. Additionally, Nic frequently collaborates with top visual and media professionals in animation, motion graphics, video editing, and photography, providing participants with insights into creating compelling visual content for large-scale productions.

This workshop is a valuable opportunity for arts workers to enhance their skills, learn new techniques, and gain practical experience that will be beneficial not only for the festival but also for their future artistic endeavors.

Furthermore, Nic Mollison will collaborate with emerging artist, director, and producer of Opal Evolution, Leila Day, to design an immersive light and projection experience for the inaugural Opal Evolution in October 2024. This collaboration will bring together Nic's expertise in lighting and projection design with Leila Day's artistic vision, creating a truly unique and captivating experience for festival attendees.
