Ivan Semashev is a comedian, actor, and producer based in Basel, Switzerland. Starting out in traditional theatre, he dove into stand-up comedy in 2018 and has been pursuing it ever since. He’s energetic, passionate, and has a vast sense of humour - from contemporary satire, to personal family anecdotes (some of which may even veer into some darker places). Whatever the topic is, be prepared to be taken on an emotional roller coaster of laughs!
He has performed in English and Russian at shows throughout Europe and occasionally outside of it, most notably at clubs like ComedyHaus in Zürich, the Comedy Clubhouse in Barcelona, or The Classic Comedy Club in Auckland. He is also the co-creator and organiser of Otter Comedy in Basel, where he regularly hosts and performs, as well as a resident host at Comedy Club 13 in Lausanne. He has shared the stage with and opened for many international acts, such as Matt Richardson, April Macie, Sammy Obeid, Peter Flanagan, Sid Singh, Red Richardson, Victor Patrascan, and Emma Dalenberg.
