About this Event
How much do you love your homeland? What is it like to grow up in Taiwan, when your powerful neighbour China denies your country's own very right to exist and threatens with random military drills?

Nominee, Best Show, Leicester Comedy Festival 2023
Winner, Brian's Life Award for Comedy Shows, Prague Fringe 2023
For one night only, Taiwanese comedian and Leicester Comedy Festival 2023 Best Show and Sean Lock Comedy Award nominee Kuan-wen brings his English stand up comedy special to The Comedy pub in Vienna.
Kuan-wen recounts how he traded his beloved island for the rainy British isles, later known as BREXIT BRITAIN. In recounting the amusing tale of why he decide to run away, the audience learns how Taiwanese people just get on with lives and cope with the endless threat from their powerful neighbour China.
As seen and heard on BBC Radio 4, BBC Three and Comedy Central.

“In this debut hour, Ilha Formosa, his likeable bluster is given weight by centring on the complex relationship he has with his home country and its tense political struggles with China.” – The List
“The comic has an incredible database of international relations up his sleeve. It made the digs pack a punch.” – Entertainment Now
Door opens at 7:30pm. Show starts at 8:00pm.
