A Creature Conversation: Come Learn About Monsters from the USA! 🇺🇸This Thursday, we’ll have a special guest speaker — Fulbright folklore researcher Kyla Jernigan! In this session, she’ll talk about the creative thought process behind monster-making in folklore and media.
Kyla is originally a student at East Tennessee State University, and she is currently in Hungary exploring folklore creatures and monsters in collaboration with the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.
Kyla’s research explores how monsters—real or imagined—mirror our fears, values, and cultural identity. From Hungarian dragons to American cryptids like Bigfoot and Mothman, she investigates how these legendary creatures are born, evolve, and connect across continents. 🌍
During this interactive English Conversation Club session, you’ll dive into stories, cross-cultural comparisons, and surprising insights — all while discovering what our favorite monsters reveal about the societies that imagine them. 💬✨
