About this Event
Engineering workshop hours are an opportunity for you to benefit from the expertise of a mechanical engineer. Some of the ways Tomas can help you include:
- Helping take your idea to a 3D computer-aided design (CAD) model.
- Planning the manufacture and assembly of a prototype.
- Helping with coding and hardware for your electronics projects using Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
- Repairing your desktop 3D printers and home appliances.
Project scope should be well-defined for a 1-2 hour consulting session. If you have two team members attending, each must buy a ticket for the session.
At the end of the workshop, you will receive a brief report providing you with a summary of the consulting visit, a plan for next steps, and links to additional resources. If additional work is needed, you may arrange separate consulting services with Tomas beyond the initial consultation through Factory 3.
About the instructor: Tomas has bachelor and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University, where he studied medical robotics and soft robotic technologies. He has worked as a design engineer for three years with two companies in the electronics and industrial sector. Tomas has also taught CAD and fundamentals of design for robotics teams in New Hampshire, and worked as a teaching assistant at Boston University for classes in medical robotics and engineering computation.
