The Energy for Life Walkathon will be held on Saturday September 20th to raise awareness and funds for mitochondrial disease research education and advocacy. Registration begins at 2:00 pm followed by the popular basket raffle from 2:00 – 3:30 pm the opening ceremony at 3:30 pm and the walk kick-off at 4:00 pm.
The event will also feature live music snacks and activities for participants and families. Mitochondrial disease affects people of all ages causing major organs to fail when the body’s energy-producing cells malfunction. Every 30 minutes a child is born with this condition and diagnosis can be challenging because symptoms vary widely.
WNY Mito Group walks for all Western New Yorkers affected today and for those who will be diagnosed in the future — walking together because there is hope.
