About this Event
Staff and students are invited to join a guided tour of the University’s Energy Centre, led by our Energy and Utilities Manager, Ben.
The tour will explore the combined heat and power (CHP) engines and heat network that provide electricity and heating to University buildings, and how these systems help reduce carbon emissions while keeping the campus running.
You’ll see large-scale energy infrastructure up close and hear about the day-to-day realities of operating an energy centre in a busy university environment. The tour will also look ahead, discussing the challenges of meeting growing and changing energy demand, improving resilience to climate change, and progressing towards Net Zero, in line with the upcoming launch of the University’s new Energy Strategy.
Open to all staff and students.
Booking required, places are limited.
Please note: This is a working boiler house, so appropriate footwear is required for safety. You will be greeted outside of the Energy Centre to begin the tour.
Photography: There will be a photographer on site taking pictures at this week's events. If you do NOT want your photograph to be used in future marketing materials, please contact us at [email protected]. You may withdraw your consent at any stage in the future; however, this will not apply retrospectively to material already in circulation.
