About this Event
HORIBA is excited to announce our first Raman and XRF workshop at HIMaC2, HORIBA Institute for Mobility and Connectivity2 on the campus of the University of California, Irvine. The event will take place on October 30-31.
Workshop Description:
Sponsored by HIMaC2 and HORIBA, this two-day, in-person, introductory workshop offers the basics of Raman and X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy. The course features a combination of lectures and personalized hands-on training sessions by Dr. Sergey Mamedov and Dr. Peng Miao, Raman/XRF Applications Scientists at HORIBA.
Day 1 (Oct. 30) is focused on XRF. Topics will include:
- Principle of Energy Dispersive XRF (EDXRF)
- EDXRF Microscope and Sample Preparation
- Quantification in XRF
- XRF Hyperspectral Imaging
- XRF for Battery and Fuel Cells
- Hands-on Training Sessions*
Day 2 (Oct. 31) is focused on Raman. Topics will include:
- Fundamentals of Raman spectroscopy
- Fundamentals of Raman Instrumentation
- Raman Hyperspectral Imaging
- Raman Data Analysis
- Raman for Battery and Fuel Cells
- Hands-on Training Sessions*
*Registering for the hands-on training is for an application only and does not guarantee a slot. The organizers fromHIMaC2 and HORIBA will review all applications, and let the individuals know 1 week before the event if they have a slot for the hands-on training in the afternoon. Due to the limited number of seats, we are limiting attendees to TWO people per organization or research group for the hands-on sessions, which will have up to 4 attendees.
Hands-on demonstration and training in the afternoon will be conducted each day in the Analytic Laboratory (AL), following the morning lectures.
Lunch is provided for those who will attend the hands-on training in the afternoon.
