About this Event
Join us for a member celebration and year-end party with special presentation by Doug Gerlach, AIA, Design Director for Minneapolis-based firm, Snow Kreilich Architects.
This presentation will explore the intersection of sustainability, contextual response, and form-making through the lens of three recent projects by Snow Kreilich Architects. In particular, we’ll focus on the complex feedback loop between sustainability drivers and more foundational influences on architectural form and materiality, and the potential of that investigation to connect a building to its place.
L earning Objectives:
- Discuss a design process in which the exploration of form and materiality intermingles
with considerations of sustainability from early design through detailed development. - Summarize the impact of energy modeling on building form, siting and expression.
- Explore different ways of thinking about the relationship between material selection and site context.
- Identify methods for reducing embodied carbon in both new construction and adaptive re-use.
