About this Event
B4NZ and Race to Zero will bring together experts, partners, and members for a panel session on 'Encouraging Private Finance: Lessons Learned from the Inflation Reduction Act.'
Retrofitting older buildings to improve their energy efficiency is crucial for decarbonising urban environments and achieving net zero. In the UK, the housing sector accounts for around 14% of emissions.
In the US, the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) in 2022 has unlocked billions of dollars in funding for the retrofitting of existing buildings through the expansion of tax incentives, tax credits, and grants. The retrofitting programmes underway as a result will significantly decarbonise the US housing stock.
The finance sector will play a critical role in financing the retrofitting of the built environment in the UK, but a supportive policy environment is necessary. With that in mind, this session could provide an excellent opportunity to explore the implementation of new incentives and regulations in the IRA and to consider which aspects could be successfully replicated in the UK.
