Hunter Presbyterian Church welcomes Daniel & Renita Koehn for an innovative performance about the Gospel of John.
A Reception to celebrate the performers and the finale of the concert series, will follow the performance in Fellowship Hall.
ENCOUNTERS WITH JESUS is a program of vignettes from John’s Gospel in which various individuals encounter Jesus Christ face-to-face in a life-changing way. A musical meditation follows each encounter to give space for the listener to reflect on what they’ve just seen and heard in the Scripture passage.
RENITA KOEHN is a native Kentuckian. She received her undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees in vocal performance. She was a college professor of voice for 27 years, serving in California, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Dr. Koehn has performed as a soloist in numerous oratorios, especially enjoyed directing various university choirs and ensembles, and served as Director of Vocal Studies for four years at Trevecca Nazarene University. In addition to directing Daniel’s dramatic shows, she now teaches voice in her own private studio in Frankfort, is the worship pastor at her church, and is a freelance musician. She enjoys traveling, raising herbs, language and word study, writing, and arranging.
DANIEL KOEHN earned his master's and doctorate degrees in vocal performance from the University of Kentucky and sang opera professionally for 3 years at the beginning of his career in such houses as Central City Opera, Opera Omaha, San Diego Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago. He has performed principal roles in several operas and musicals and performed as bass soloist in many choral masterworks. Dr. Koehn is a part-time voice instructor at Eastern Kentucky University and Transylvania University, where he works with Dr. Barbara Rogers. He has a masters degree in Biblical Literature and is the pastor of Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene in Frankfort
