About this Event
On May 26, 1824, the United States became the first country to recognize Brazil's independence. This exhibition celebrates 200 years of friendly, peaceful, and uninterrupted relations between the two largest nations in the Americas. Few countries can take pride in such a long-standing and enduring bilateral relationship.
Originally held at the Itamaraty Palace in BrasÃlia in 2024, the exhibition now arrives in New York, in a bilingual format, as the bicentennial year comes to a close. Through historical texts and images, it documents key moments that have shaped two centuries of diplomatic relations. The exhibition is primarily based on archival materials from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with contributions from other Brazilian institutions.
