ENCHANTED WATERSThe hidden space welcomes visual artist Karolina Pielak for a two-month art residency titled Enchanted Waters. Beginning on 14 October 2024, Karolina will explore the parallels and contrasts between the myths of the Rusałka (Slavic) and Mouras Encantadas (Portuguese). These folkloric tales revolve around a female figure linked to water, natural forces, mystery, and transformation.
Throughout the residency, Karolina and The hidden space will host a series of workshops and events that delve into these themes, encouraging an exchange of ideas between participants and the artist. You can expect workshops on Ebru painting, storytelling, tie-dye, creative writing, and more. These shared experiences —exploring our inner treasures, hidden creativity and unique connections to myth and metamorphosis—will inspire Karolina's artistic process.
During the residency our doors are open for you to come by to meet Karolina and see her progress. The works created will be exhibited at The hidden space from 7 to 21 December 2024.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Karolina Pielak (b. 1994) is a Polish visual artist and graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. Her work seeks to uncover the unknown and unpredictable through an intuitive, experimental approach. Inspired by the interplay between the inner and outer worlds, her art captures the meeting point of dreams, thoughts, and experiences.
Since 2017, she has participated in numerous art residencies and group exhibitions across Europe, alongside presenting several solo exhibitions in Poland.
