About this Event
This comprehensive workshop is justwhat you need to get you started in encaustic painting. It might seem daunting to begin, if you are unfamiliar with the process, or if you have tried at home, but couldn't quite "get it". Experienced artist and educator Dana Harris Seeger will guide you through the entire process to create your first painting.
In a limited seating setting, students will learn how to make their own encaustic medium, add pigment, prep their work surface and safety procedures. The small class will enable Dana to work closely with each student at each stage of the process. After prep and demonstrations, we will then make our own painting using hot wax, torches, heat guns and a smattering of mixed media. Each student will go home with an 8x10" encaustic painting.
All materials are covered in the class fee, including the painting substrate, medium, pigments used, brushes, primer and other related materials. Students will take home their finished paintings. The fee also includes an online course which has all the tutorials, handouts and information covered in class, but available on demand for a lifetime! This is a $75 bonus!
No experience necessary, just come with a willingness to learn and have fun. If you have an image reference you would like to bring to inspire you, that is an option.
