Are you ready to learn new skills, take your art to the next level, and spend two afternoons with like-minded individuals, in a honey-scented environment? Come join us for our upcoming two day, 12 hour, encaustic art workshop!Encaustic art is the first recorded type of painting in human history, and involves painting with a mixture of molten beeswax, damar tree resin & pigment, then manipulating the materials with the flame from a blow torch, or the hot air from a heat gun.
Encaustic is a fully natural material with incredible archival properties - you can view the Fayum Mummy Portraits online or in museums around the world; they were created during the Greco-Roman Period in Ancient Egypt, between the years 332 BC - 641 Common Era. The color, luster & texture in these historic pieces are incredible and they have not degraded, which demonstrates that (if cared for correctly), the pieces you will create in our workshop could last centuries.
I am offering a 2 day, 12 hour workshop at CrazyHeart Arts on January 31 & February 1 from 12-6pm. Class space is incredibly limited and registration closes on January 22nd at 5pm. All supplies, tools & materials are included in the class fee, and you will leave with two completed paintings to hang in your home or gift to a loved one. The fee is $265, there is a $165 non refundable deposit required to reserve your spot and pay for the tools & materials you will use, with the remaining $100 balance due at the beginning of the first class. To register please text or call me at (303) 502-4455 or email me at [email protected], or stop by CrazyHeart Arts at 407 N Commercial St, Trinidad, Wednesday - Sunday from noon to 6pm between now and January 22nd.
If you have not seen encaustic work in person before, please feel free to check out the current exhibit of my work at The Trinidad Carnegie Library or visit the gallery during hours of operation.
I have over a decade of experience teaching art classes to both children & adults, and my work is held in both public and private collections, in the US and Internationally. I have a deep love and appreciation for this medium, and I can’t wait to share everything I have learned about this sweet, honey-scented material with you!
