Empty Bowls, established in 2002, is a community-driven effort to fight hunger. The three-fold purpose of this event is to promote an awareness of hunger in our community and world; create an awareness of art education and its impact on civil and social responsibility; and provide an opportunity for the community to come together to raise money for local food pantries and shelters. Proceeds from this event benefit area food pantries.
This year’s event will be held at Avenue 795 from 11:00 am – 1:00 p.m. There are two seating options: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 12:00 -1:00 p.m. Take out is available at 12:30 p.m. (take out must be preordered, and is available for drive-through pick-up). Tickets are $18 and includes 6 soups, bakery, a dessert, and water or milk. Proceeds are donated to six local food pantries.
Attendees will have the choice of eating their soups at Avenue 795 (during specific timeframes; no reserved tables) or taking their soup and accompaniments to go (take-out is at 12:30 p.m. only and must be pre-ordered). Regardless of choice, all who purchase a ticket will receive six soup samples (Backyard Grill & Bar , Mr. & Mrs. Catering, Salty’s Seafood & Spirits , Avenue 795, Boda's Restaurant and Catering, and one yet to be determined ) bakery, a dessert, and water or milk.
There will also be an opportunity to purchase tickets to win raffle baskets. All ticketed guests also have the option to take home a handmade bowl (limited quantity), or an aluminum spoon ornament donated by AL-INS Enterprises.
