About this Event
Empowering Sustainable Development Goals with Space Technology Advancements
Join us at the United Nations Headquarters for an exciting event that explores the incredible potential of space technology in achieving sustainable development goals.
The event is centered around the theme of leveraging space science and technology to advance the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It aligns with the objectives set by the United Nations General Assembly when establishing The Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) in 1959. COPUOS's mandate includes promoting international cooperation in space activities, exploring UN involvement in space initiatives, advancing space research, and addressing legal challenges arising from space exploration.
Under your leadership, India's Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has achieved remarkable milestones in space exploration in 2023, including the historic landing of the Vikram lander on the lunar south pole, the launch of the Aditya-L1 solar probe, and the successful testing of the Gaganyaan's launch abort system. These initiatives have significantly contributed to socio-economic development, disaster management, telemedicine, navigation, and reconnaissance missions, marking substantial progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
