Empowering Parents: Minor Guardianship Legal Workshop

Calling all parents with minor kids: We are offering a free workshop where attorney and founder Mackenzie Sorich will guide you through creating a temporary minor guardianship nomination that would apply in an emergency situation. This document allows a guardian of your choosing to immediately have access to your children in the event of an emergency, such as a car accident that leaves your child’s guardians incapacitated.

What are the benefits of attending?

• Free, Notarized Minor Guardianship Document: Get a legal document outlining your chosen guardian, ensuring a smooth transition for your children in an emergency.
• Emergency Guardian: Avoid confusion and potential court battles by designating a trusted caregiver.
• Estate Planning 101: Learn the basics of estate planning to ensure your children's future is protected.

It is strongly recommended that both parents (or legal guardians) attend this workshop. Without both parties present to sign a notarized temporary minor guardianship form, it can be more difficult for your guardian to have the authority to step in and care for your minor children in an emergency.

Attendees are required to bring their ID to register at the YMCA and to notarize your Minor Guardianship Nomination form.

If you aren't a member of the YMCA, you are still welcome to attend! Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to register as a guest. Childcare is available for children aged 6 weeks to 13 years through the Y's Kids Zone Drop-in Care Program ($5 per child for non-members).
