EmpowerHER Hour is a signature initiative of Sisters of Economic Action (SEA) dedicated to uplifting and amplifying the visibility of women- and minority-owned businesses and organizations. This inspiring series is designed to provide a platform where these dynamic entities can showcase their unique offerings while fostering meaningful connections within a community of engaged, passionate supporters.
Our inaugural EmpowerHER Hour takes place on February 19, 2025, at 6 PM, featuring the exceptional Jacinda Walker, founder of DesignExplorr, a trailblazer in design education and advocacy. DesignExplorr is a social impact organization aiming to address the diversity gap within the design profession by expanding design education and raising awareness among community partners. We accomplish our mission through collaborating on educational youth programs, coordinating diversity-building initiatives, and connecting stakeholders to resources.
Dr. Jacinda N. Walker's Bio
Dr. Jacinda N. Walker is a pioneer in promoting diversity in design. As the founder of designExplorr, she empowers thousands of young people to explore design careers. Her ELC, a 1,800-square-foot space, provides marginalized students with a unique launchpad for their design journeys. Equipped with diverse mentorship, cutting-edge technology, and real-world projects, the ELC helps students transition seamlessly into the workforce. With a passion for education and mentorship, Dr. Walker is dedicated to creating a more inclusive and equitable future for design.

Sisters of Economic Action (SEA) is dedicated to empowering women of color in the fields of community and economic development. Through networking, mentorship, and collaborative projects, SEA fosters an environment that promotes leadership, professional growth, and community impact, creating a sustainable foundation for women of color to thrive and contribute meaningfully to Northeast Ohio.
