About this Event

Entrepreneurship is a challenging and high-risk endeavour. Over 60% of businesses fail in the first five years. Of those that survive, most stagnate. Only 1 in 10 break £1m in annual sales, one in forty breaks £5m, and a mere one in one hundred exceed £10m.

In this session you will discover:

  • The most common reason businesses get stuck, and how you can avoid that fate
  • The five stages of the Entrepreneur’s Journey and how they impact growth and your returns
  • Two critical mindset shifts for achieving scalable and sustainable business growth
  • Three new leadership approaches you can implement immediately to reduce your workload and improve your team’s accountability
  • The CRAFT of Leading – a framework for increasing engagement and achieving better results

Speaker:

Richard McMullan

Richard started his working life as a strategy consultant advising a wide range of businesses from small and medium sized businesses through to FTSE100 companies, including a two-year stint as Head of Marketing and Strategy for International Trade and Banking at NatWest (a £370m turnover, £174m profit business).

Following that, he led and scaled a NI based fitted furniture manufacturer and retailer from £1m to £20m, with nearly 270 employees across the UK and Ireland.

Since leaving the furniture business, he’s advised 139 owners on how to grow their business’s value, reduce its reliance on them, and build an enduring legacy.

This year, he published a book “The Business Exit Blueprint”, which is a comprehensive, no-nonsense, life-changing guide to owning a valuable, sellable, and sought-after business and exiting wealthy, happy, and regret-free on your terms and timescales.

As well as his advisory work, Richard co-owns two businesses which he’s building to sell using the methodology he teaches in his book, and which he manages in less than an hour a week.

During this 45-minute session, Richard will draw on his 34 years’ experience of running businesses, owning businesses, advising owners, and what he teaches in the book to share the key leadership lessons that free the owner to work on, not in the business, and unlock their business’s growth potential.
