Empowered Engagement: Chronic Pain Self-Management is a free, 5-session, occupational therapy–led group for adults living with chronic or persistent pain.Living with chronic pain can be overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting — and you don’t have to do it alone. This group is here to offer support, connection, and practical tools. Together, we’ll explore pain education, self-management strategies, sleep support, activity modification, self-advocacy, and nervous system awareness to help you better understand pain, navigate daily activities, and engage in what matters most to you in ways that feel safer, more manageable, and meaningful.
The group will be facilitated by Kati Eilts, an OTD student at Colorado State University, who brings both personal lived experience with chronic pain and chronic illness and experience supporting others with similar challenges. Groups will be run under the supervision of Katy Owens, OTR/L, a licensed occupational therapist.
Participants can expect OT-informed education and discussion, practical everyday strategies to try in their own lives, and a supportive, low-pressure group environment with a focus on participation, self-advocacy, and finding what works best for them.
The group will be offered in a hybrid format, with in-person meetings held at Colorado State University in Alder Hall and a virtual option available via Google Meet. Sessions will take place from 6:30–7:30 PM, and the group is free to attend.
Topics across the sessions will include chronic pain self-management, sleep and persistent pain, modifying daily activities and meaningful occupations, personal agency and self-advocacy, and pain neuroscience education with a focus on the autonomic nervous system.
