An exciting community dedicated to nurturing the art of public speaking in a supportive and collaborative environment.
About this Event

We have designed a series of relaxed evening events across various locations in the North East, where you'll have the opportunity to learn, share, and practice your public speaking skills.

Our mission is simple: to bring together individuals who are passionate about public speaking, whether you're a seasoned speaker or just starting out. At Empower Your Voice, we believe in the power of peer-learning and community support. That's why our events have an open mic feel, giving everyone the chance to speak and share their knowledge, skills, and advice.

Jamie, Kat and Zoe (your hosts) are bonded by ovecoming their fear of public speaking and are firm believers in the transformative power of public speaking. They have seen first-hand how it can help businesses grow and individuals thrive. Now, they are excited to launch this new community, dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive space where you can develop your public speaking skills, boost your confidence, and unlock your full potential.

Whether you're looking to hone your presentation skills for a future TED talk, improve your communication abilities in the workplace, or simply overcome your fear of public speaking, Empower Your Voice is here to support you every step of the way.

This is not a workshop - it is an interactive peer-learning event. This unique event style will encourage the sharing of best practise allowing you to learn through other people's experiences. Your hosts will curate a safe and supportive environment so whether you are attending due to fear or intrigue you will be comfortable.

Warning - some presentations may include swearing.

Your hosts:

Zoe Maylam

Head of Relationships and Events at Inspired HR.

Zoe supports the growth of the business via strategic events and business development activities. Her role requires her to be 'on stage' and host events so she continuously works on her communication skills. She is passionate about public speaking and helping business leaders get over their fear of being on stage to help them develop their personal brand!

Jamie Pell

Director at AM Recruitment & Training

Jamie is passionate about delivery of innovative and ethical training, providing employment opportunities within multiple sectors including the engineering, construction, manufacturing, customer service and hospitality sectors . He has founded AM Training to help support people with perceived barriers to work into sustainable careers and got a name for himself networking when he wanted to change how workplaces supported their staff with their mental well-being. The regional #iamnotok campaign made businesses think differently about their mental health policies. Jamie saw success through public speaking, sharing his ideas and raising awareness talking about mental health and providing opportunity, telling his own story in the process - he knew getting on stage was the only way to spread the word fast!

Kat Moody

Dispute Resolution and Employment Law Solicitor at Richard Reed

Kat has been studying and working in the legal sector since she was 16 years old and qualified in 2013. Growing up on a council estate, in a single parent family, she suspects that it was never expected that she’d become a lawyer. Kat has been working on making her voice heard and doing the same for others too. She wants to help showcase to anyone from any background they can be whatever they want to be. Dream big! As a girls’ network mentor last year, Kat was able to provide encouragement, support and inspiration to a young girl from a local Tyne & Wear school, helping her to find her voice and build her confidence to be an empowered young female. Kat is proud to have overcome the barriers in her way and wants her current success to inspire the next generation of working-class girls.

Your three working-class hosts have overcome many challenges in life and businesses - haven't we all! So, strap in for a night of real truth - let's put that authentic self-stuff to the test shall we!

Come and be you, be real and learn how public speaking can be your super power to unlocking your growth
