Dear massively multi-disciplinary, systemic change community in the SF Bay of people in the process of changing the world who happen to hike: I am pleased to say that we have found a time when David Hodgson, and I, Bobby Fishkin, can gather with many of you for our next hike.
Empirical, analytical & theoretical social change oriented hikers, join us. How do we think about the Sustainable Development Goal gaps from these frames of thinking? For those who you who would find it helpful, re SDG history: "At the 70th session of the UN General Assembly from September 25–27, 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development consisting of 17 SDGs, 169 associated targets, and 304 indicators was adopted after “three years of multistakeholder consultations and intergovernmental negotiations” "https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/gch2.201700036 "While the scientific community has emphasised the need for
a systems approach to sustainable development (e.g. gea, 2012;
pbl, 2012; sei, 2012; Stafford Smith et al.,2012), policymakers now face the challenge of implementing the sdgs simultaneously withthe aim of achieving progress across the economic, social and environmental dimensions worldwide. "
"By systematically assessing the interactions and relationships between sdgs and targets, this report aims to support horizontal coherence across sectors. Coherence can be defined as “an attribute of policy that systematically reduces conflicts and promotes synergies between and within different policy areas to achieve the outcomes associated with jointly agreed policy objectives” (Nilsson et al.,2012:396). However, it
is also important to keep in mind the other dimensions of policy
coherence (oecd, 2016, see graphic). These additional dimensions, that become visible during implementation, concern alignment between and across countries, across levels of government, across governance mechanisms, and across the implementation continuum.
Hiking is good at creating rhythms of thought, pace of mind, and a social cadence for collaborative creativity and improvisational thought. Its also essential to ensure your thinking is cumulative with other disciplines and patterns of understanding.
For our October 16th hike in 2022 please meet at 2pm PST hike please meet at the Legion of Honor steps.
This hike is co-hosted with Nordic Impact Week.
We will have a good hike. Please let us know if you will be joining so that we know to look out for you. While our hike is the primary container, some of us may head on to eat Burmese food nearby (34th and Clement) afterwards.
You can join the google group for hiking info- http://groups.google.com/group/hiking-to-the-next-level or our meetup here: https://www.meetup.com/Whole-Outcome-Investors-Impact-Investing-For-Systemic-Change/.
