About this Event
On February 17th, from 6 pm to 9 pm at 460 Melwood Ave., we're bringing together Pittsburgh’s activist community, neighborhood organizers, and residents for an evening of learning and strategy in response to heightened ICE activity and federal policing. The event will use the lens of the podcast Empire City: The Untold Story of the NYPD— which explores how power, race, and empire shape American life — to connect local rapid-response activism to larger historical and systemic patterns.
Award-winning Empire City host and professor of journalism, Chenjerai Kumanyika, will be joined in conversation with history-making Congresswoman Summer Lee.
The event is free of charge; however, seating is limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
This isn’t just a panel — it’s a community strategy session with art, storytelling, and organizing woven together.
