About this Event
The Faith-Based Mental Health Initiative, Inc. partners with Light of the World Christian Tabernacle International and the Morehouse School of Medicine, Center of Excellence for African American Behavioral Health to implement Project RejuveNation. The mission of Project RejuveNation is to empower Christian faith communities to mobilize within the ranks of the clergy, lay members and community members to form Emotional Health and Wellness Ministries. Spiritually-integrated intervention can then be effectively designed and implemented in partnership with mental health professionals.
Project RejuveNation Training Series
A primary goal of the Project RejuveNation is to conduct a 12-hour training series guided by an original, project specific manual aimed toward increasing knowledge, skills and competency with implementing spiritually-integrated mental health promotion, suicide prevention and substance misuse prevention.
Lay members will be trained to function as Emotional Wellness Partners who will provide emotional and spiritual support to individuals facing mental illness and substance misuse challenges.
Learning will be reinforced through interactive exercises and proprietary video discussions provided by national researchers and practitioners in faith-based intervention.
Training will also equip clergy and lay members to recognize symptoms that indicate the need for referral to professional mental health intervention. Clergy and lay members will be further trained to appropriately respond to crises, particularly to utilize the 9-8-8 Crisis and Suicide hotline.
