This is a course we highly recommend to all educators! Children’s emotional development sets the foundations for all other domains of development, which is why it is such a feature in our national curriculum (EYLF). Since COVID lockdowns we have seen children struggle more with their emotional control. Furthermore, from a neuroscience perspective, we know the brain is most sensitive to learning emotional control in the first 3 years of life. This session focuses on the ways in which emotions develop and occur in the brain. Discover how emotional development is learned through interaction and experience, and furthermore how this impacts a child’s reactions and behaviour. We will cover the neuroscience of emotion and emotion based theories such as Bowlby's attachment theory.
We will discuss techniques for promoting autonomy, empowerment, sustained friendships and the effective management of emotions and behaviours. You will also go home with a comprehensive resource kit to share with your team and continue your own learning journey.
Presented by: Owner/Director Kate. Resource kit and lunch included.
