The late Ella Fitzgerald is considered by many to be the greatest female jazz vocalist of all time. First Congregational Church Pastor and Vocalist, Emilia Halstead, fell in love with Ella's vocal stylings when 'Emmy" was in middle school, having run across a CD of Ella's music in the Halstead family CD collection. The rest, as they say is "history!"If you've heard Emilia sing and know the musical legacy of Ella, Fitzgerald, you'll get the connection. If not, you're in for a big treat on Sunday, January 18 at 2:30 PM at First Congregational Church, 79 Clinton St. in Concord, when "Emmy Sings Ella!" After an initial Jazz Set with Emilia and The Jazz Sanctuary House Band, readings, conversation, prayers, and more music will explore how deepening our imaginations can lead to a greater awareness of beauty all around us - including the silent music of a lake!
As always, admission is free and all are welcome wherever you are AND BECAUSE OF WHO YOU ARE on your life's journey!
