When thinking of jazz and the most mainstream touchstones of this wholly American art form, the first two names that come to mind are Miles Davis & John Coltrane. In 2026, BOTH of these cultural icons turn 100! A dynamic ensemble led by pianist Emmet Cohen, featuring saxophonist Tivon Pennicott and Trumpeter Jeremy Pelt will celebrate these geniuses in Miles and Coltrane at 100.
The program will feature a quintet performing a wide range of tunes made famous over the decades of both Davis & Coltrane’s storied output, both together in the First Great Quintet and after. Supported by a cultural arts marketing package, and appearances on Cohen’s show Live from Emmet’s Place, the aim of this project is to connect with both the core jazz audience and those less familiar with this music.
Audiences will experience the virtuosity, style and elegance of five of the top young players interpreting some of the most recognizable, acclaimed American music ever written.
