Join us for our annual Solidarity Sale charity event in August to shop for a better world. On Saturday 23 August, Emmaus Mossley will donate 100% of takings from our Secondhand Superstore to Emmaus International. This annual sale, held by all Emmaus groups, is our movementβs main source of income to carry out solidarity programmes and campaigns across the world.
On the day weβll have lots of great items available and for one day only, all clothes, shoes and accessories in our Boutique Emmaus area will be Β£1 each! As well as charity shopping, relax in our cafΓ© and listen to a talk about the importance of solidarity at Emmaus Mossley.
Local, Global, Vital!
The Emmaus movement began in France in 1949 when the first community was established. Many more Emmaus groups were formed in different countries and in 1971, Emmaus International was formed to bring together the solidarity-based movement. The Emmaus movement today includes more than 400 Emmaus groups across 42 countries, spread over 4 continents.
By shopping with us on the day of our Solidarity Sale, you will be taking action to support vulnerable and marginalised people across the world. Your purchases will help to fund Emmaus groups, initiatives and projects supporting communities in desperate need. Solidarity Sale funds are also used to help improve access to basic human rights (such as education, health and water).
Many Emmaus groups in other parts of the world operate in very challenging political and economic environments with limited resources. Without the funds raised from the annual Solidarity Sales, some groups would not be able to continue with their initiatives in the service of the most disadvantaged people.
Please join us for our Solidarity Sale on Saturday 23 August, 10am-4pm, at the Emmaus Mossley Secondhand Superstore, Longlands Mill, Queen Street, Mossley, OL5 9AH.
