Expect the unexpected: For few singers are less interested in taking a musical journey in a straight line than Emily Brown. Jazz may be rocked, folk may be funked & ballads may be taken deeper than a diving bell. Though the route can be unpredictable, the destination is always certain: pure entertainment. Neil was bowled over when he saw this quartet at Seven Arts in Leeds recently, a power-packed 90 minutes of fun.
Emily is a talented Yorkshire based jazz singer who has made a big name for herself on the Northern jazz scene. She thrills with her unbelievable voice, stagecraft, delightful persona and rare instinct of knowing just when to ‘let the dogs’ loose resulting in unbelievably rich and rounded ‘jazz’.
