About this Event

 Registration Saturday: 08:45

Saturday: 09:00-17:00

This course is accredited for 7 CPD Hours by the European Academy of Chiropractic.

We want to reduce our impact on the environment by limiting the amount of paper we are using for our CPD courses. Course notes: Not provided in hard copy. You will be notified by email to access notes via Dropbox or similar (this is free to access and you will not need to set up a Dropbox account)

This one-day Emergency First Aid at Work course for Healthcare Professionals covers all emergency first aid at work topics and extra topics that are relevant for those working in a therapeutic role.

Due to the amount of course content to be covered, the course has an online element that will need completing prior to the practical session approx 2.5 hours. The online content needs to be completed within 3 weeks of the classroom session and this information will be set to you prior to the classroom session.

Throughout the course there are clinically relevant scenarios with detailed information as to what to do in each type of emergency. You will be provided with a first aid manual/workbook specifically tailored to match the content of the course.

Additional topics include how to recognise and manage: spinal injuries, diabetic emergencies, angina, DVTs, stroke (VBAI emergencies), how to deal with a patient who has fainted, manage a patient who has collapsed on a therapeutic table/bench, anaphylaxis (severe allergic reactions), asthma emergencies and recognition and management of a collapsed lung (important for those offering dry needling/acupuncture).

Please note that to gain the HSE compliant workplace EFAW certificate, you will need to pass a multiple-choice exam at the end of the course and demonstrate all necessary practical skills (including CPR at ground level for 2 minutes). If you are unable to perform the necessary skills, you may still attend and will gain a certificate of attendance.
