Emergency Expo: Sensory Sensitivity Hour2:30-3:30 pm on July 25
North parking lot outside Dick’s Sporting Goods
NEW in 2024! Join us before the main Emergency Expo for this smaller, quieter hour with limited lights and sounds. Children, teens, and adults are all welcome to attend and have one-on-one interactions with police, fire, and EMTs. You’ll be able to ask questions, such as what happens when an ambulance comes to your home, or what to do during a traffic stop. Emergency gear and clothing will be out for you to see and touch. A warning will be given before a siren will be turned on.
Information on the 9-1-1 Premise Alert Program will be available through the Emergency Communications Center. Ear protection will be available to borrow, and an ASL interpreter will be on site.
The sensory sensitivity hour is made possible through the assistance of Advocates for Access, Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, Peoria Police Department, Advanced Medical Transport, Peoria Fire Department, Dunlap Fire District, Emergency Communications Center, and Peoria County Emergency Management.
