Emergence: A workshop on discovery and being in the moment.Taught by: Improv Legend, Randy Dixon!
Date: Saturday, Nov. 15th
Time: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Cost: $60
The pieces begin in shadows and stillness, through spontaneity we discover the emerging
form rising from the boundary of stillness set by the audience. Not forced with tons ideas but patiently revealing engaging theater that rises from everyone in the room. Improvise with those who do not they are improvising with you. What will emerge from chaos to control to chaos? What is the new idea of emergence and complexity theory?
Work against your improvisation training to open yourself up being receptive and vulnerable to what wants to happen, not what I want to make happen. Discovering and being open to the moment. Inviting discovery onstage and in in scene work, not “making” something happen.
Randy Dixon will explore emergence: something from nothing and the art of discovering what the work is about together, between the audience and performers, on stage. Randy Dixon has a long career of exploring this theme, having created such shows as City Life, Spoken, and Blank Slate, shows that depend on everyone working together to discover what the show is about while doing it.
