Join us at Alcove for a beginner-friendly embroidery workshop!
About this Event

Join us for a beginner friendly embroidery 2 hour workshop! In these 2 hours you will learn how to get started in your embroidery practice. This includes materials used, techniques for starting and finishing, as well as project ideas. We will end off the workshop with hands-on supervised practice on popular stitches. If you have some embroidery experience already, we can give you tips and tricks on how to level up your skills. Materials will be provided.

Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).

The workshop is pay what you can! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

A BOUT THE FACILITATOR:

I’m Elisa from Ellie’s Market. I am a self taught embroidery artist who started this business with my sister in 2020 during COVID. We started out embroidering people’s pets and custom design requests on our signature red handle tote bags. Now, we have expanded to embroidering a variety of custom designs on hats, wall hangings, masks, badge reels, and magnets! Embroidery is my favourite way to be creative, relax and disconnect from screens. Looking forward to meeting you.

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists.

Alcove is a Recreational Art Space open to the public providing free art supplies and instruments to stimulate creativity. The space also acts as a gathering place for workshops, community events, and social meetups. Come visit and get creative!
