CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Show your DC pride! We'll be celebrating the district and our state flower, the American Beauty Rose. This fun class will teach you the basics of embroidery and let you design your own flowery map of DC! You will learn a variety of embroidery stitches to make your project your own. Bring your own design aesthetic, learn, and have fun along the way! All materials will be provided. No sewing experience is necessary.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Sophie Kanter is a textile artist living in Washington, DC. A native of the city, she is inspired by plants and everything nature has to offer, in addition to beautiful modern design. Her practice includes natural dyeing, embroidery, cross stitch, and much more! The best part of her art is sharing the process with others and seeing the unique creations of others. In addition to art, she also loves chocolate chip cookies and other people's dogs.
