Embracing Winter: Restorative and Yoga Nidra for Deep Rest With Iain Ross
Friday 14th November 7:30-9pm
In nature, winter signals a time for most things to retreat, to recharge and to rest. While we find ourselves on the ongoing treadmill that is life, we don't often afford ourselves this time to rest. Instead we head into winter with resistance, berating the colder temperatures and darker nights.
But what if we took winter as our signal from nature that it's time for us to rest?
In this workshop, you have 90 minutes to do nothing but embrace deep rest. Honouring the concept of "wintering", we'll release the constant drive to do more and instead welcome in deep, nurturing rest as our natural state of being.
Heavily supported by props (hello ALL the blankets), we'll move through a sequence of long-held restorative poses at the ground, before moving into a profoundly restful state with a winter themed Yoga Nidra.
For those who haven't practiced Yoga Nidra before, it translates as "Yoga Sleep". The practice guides you into a very deep state of rest, shifting your brain waves from beta to alpha and theta, similar to what you'd find during REM sleep. Through guided meditation and stillness, Yoga Nidra offers a chance to explore deeper levels of your consciousness while giving the mind and body a chance to totally recharge.
Suitable for everyone. No prior experience needed.
