Do you struggle with a need for life, art, work, relationships... to be P E R F E C T ?
Maybe you procrastinate for fear of making a mistake and not getting it right the first time?
Perhaps you feel scared to risk failure, of taking the next step and leaping into the unknown, and maybe this fear is keeping you stuck in the safety and comfort of familiarity.
What if you could make art to help process or release some of that stress, worry and self imposed need for perfection? What if you could embrace imperfection and find a way to be ok with things not turning out the way you planned.
Join us at ’Here you Grow’, for a fun, engaging and messy art workshop, where we will create 2 art-works inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi, and transform our fear of imperfection into a CELEBRATION of repair, resiliency and personal growth.
It is through our mistakes, failures and from falling down, that we learn to rise, to grow and discover more about ourselves.
At this workshop you will be guided step by step to:
1. Paint a personalised Kintsugi inspired painting on canvas using acrylic and gold leaf
2. Gently smash a bowl, plate or cup, and mend Kintsugi style’, using a hot glue gun and gold leaf.
You are welcome to bring along a favourite chipped cup, plate or bowl, to mend 'Kintsugi' style, or select one from our collection on the day.
Kintsugi (golden joinery) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, a method similar to the maki-e technique. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise
This will be a welcoming and safe space to connect with others,
make mistakes, EMBRACE IMPERFECTIONS and most importantly to laugh and have fun.

1 cup, bowl or plate. (to smash and repair)
