About this Event
SATURDAY 24th May 2025
Edinburgh Gorgie Salvation Army 431 Gorgie Road, Edinburgh, EH11 2RT .
Doors open at 10am.
Session 1 will be Embracing Differences Talk from 10:30-12pm.
Short break and then a bonus introduction to Sensory Tray Bible Stories from 12:20-1:15pm.
To embrace means: to love, to accept and include someone.
Are our churches embracing neurodiversity? Are our churches really loving and accepting of autistic people? Have our churches moved forward with inclusion? Do we accept people’s differences and support them in their unique way of developing faith and spirituality?
What does diversity and inclusion actually mean in the context of autism & church community?
During this seminar, in addition to gaining more awareness about the autism spectrum, you will be able to have insight into how far the church has come from welcoming people in the building, to allowing them to belong and supporting their spiritual needs wherever they are. You will learn strategies and ways in which your church can move forward and become a place of worship for all, and a community of God’s children who accept each other just as they are.
