Please join Matthew Daniell, guiding teacher of North Shore Insight Meditation Center, for a half-day meditation program in Salisbury, Mass., focused on mindfulness of the body. Where do we go when we are experiencing unhealthy stress and reactivity? Where do we find calm amid the storms of life? Where do we find moments of pause, renewal, rest? The Buddha taught that peace/stillness is to be found within, and he taught that one practical way to find this is through mindfulness of the body. In this workshop we will explore a three-step process to do just this. The first step is to bring awareness to sensations as we sit, breathe, and move. The second is to see thoughts, moods, and emotions as they express themselves as sensation in the body. And the third is to appreciate and prioritize moments of stillness in our inner life, whether it be in formal practice or in the midst of daily life. Come and explore for yourself, in a supportive retreat environment, the subtle inner power that embodying stillness can bring to the quality of living.
This workshop will combine reflection, guided and silent meditation periods, and time for discussion at the end. All levels of experience are welcome.
Matthew Daniell has been practicing Buddhist meditation since the 1980s, including over a decade in Asia, where he practiced Zen intensively in Japan, Tibetan Buddhism in India, and Insight meditation in Burma, India, and Thailand.
