Over the course of this four-session training, we will cover anatomy basics, pathology of the upper and lower extremities, the anatomy of breath & physiology of pranayama, special conditions and limitations, and safer modifications & hands on assists for the anatomically-informed yoga teacher. Each segment of this training will begin by exploring typical anatomy basics with emphasis on understanding healthy movement patterns and anatomical interactions in order to lay a foundation we will build on together. Over the course of our six weeks together, we will apply this newfound awareness to those with special conditions and chronic dysfunction such as back pain, shoulder pain, arthritis, joint replacements, etc.
Throughout the training and by completion, participants will learn and practice methods of identifying both regular and irregular movement patterns in a variety of bodies, informed and efficient cueing, hands-on assists to encourage proper alignment, and pattern recognition for safer teaching strategies.
