About this Event
Embodied meditation is a form of mindfulness that emphasises connecting deeply with your physical body as a gateway to presence, awareness, and emotional regulation. Instead of focusing solely on thoughts or breath, it invites you to tune into bodily sensations, movement, and posture to anchor yourself in the present moment. The body has its own language, and modern life has a multiplicity of ways that disconnects us from the body and disempowers us. Embodied Meditation is not always in stillness with crossed legs, it involves movement, curiosity and aliveness. One of my observations of many forms of mindfulness and meditation teachings is that they are taught in ways that offer another form of disconnecting or zoning out… like falling asleep… the way I teach helps us to wake up… to ourselves, our lives and what is truly being felt and experienced. We become aware of what is true not what we tell ourselves. I will teach you the pillars of mindfulness that can support us to integrate practices into daily life so that meditation isn’t another thing on the to do list.
What It Involves?
- Body awareness: Noticing sensations, understanding the body’s unique language
- Breath connection: The breath revels so much to us – how much life can you hold and release?
- Movement: Allowing the body to move itself – free from the mind
- Sensory grounding: Allowing our senses to wander, play, experience life.
Why It Matters?
- Deepens mindfulness: The body is always in the present, making it a reliable anchor.
- Supports emotional regulation: Physical sensations often signal emotional states before thoughts do.
- Fosters self-compassion: Encourages nonjudgmental awareness of your body and its needs.
- Integrates mind and body: Challenges the idea that consciousness is only mental
What do I need to bring?
You, all of you is welcome. Your journal, pen, cushion and any other items to support your comfort in the session. We will be sat on the floor, although chairs are available if this is something that you will find difficult.
Do I need Experience of this work?
Absolutely not and there are no expectations on you other than a readiness and willingness with a pinch of curiosity. If you suffer with any diagnosed mental health conditions and are likely to need support outside of these sessions, please ensure that this is something you consider as sometimes wounds can arise and its important that you ensure you are resourced. I am contactable outside of sessions if there is anything you need to speak into via email.
Lastly … a little note from me…
We all have a plethora of stories and beliefs formed from our experiences, upbringing and life stages, the patterns that form from these inform our lives and they can serve us through certain challenges and chapters however the protection they provide can offer shelter but if we’re never allowed out from the shelter we may as well call it Pr*son. Embodied meditation can help us to understand ourselves better and seek to live our lives with more flexibility, improved adaptation and resourcing. This work is welcoming you home to yourself.
