About this Event
What does a place-based approach to HLS look like? Practical insights from pioneering places.
HLS frames places as ‘systems made up of people and organisations’, but how people live is also shaped by the geography, landscapes and built environment that surround them. Places are fundamentally important to people with location (“where I’m from”) being core to their sense of cultural identity. In creating the conditions for people to thrive system actors need to consider and work with the wider conception of place.
In this 90 minute conversation, hosted by Collaborate CIC, we will hear from places that are at the forefront of developing a whole-place, whole-system approach to HLS.
We will discuss how connecting examples of pioneering practice can grow its influence and supersede the old way of doing things to create change across a place - from neighbourhoods, to towns and cities, to regions. We’ll find out what needs to be retained and adapted from existing practice, and what needs to be left behind. Importantly we’ll explore what approaches need to sit alongside HLS to enable whole-place, whole-system change.
